Unveiled Faces

Discover what it truly means to imitate Christ through up-close, transformative discipleship that reflects him to the world.

In Unveiled Faces, Stefani McDade offers a robust theology of imitating Christ. Through deeply considering ten core traits that Jesus embodied, McDade shows how Christlikeness is formed in us through deep and abiding embodiment so that Jesus' own loves and his character become our own. As we draw near to Jesus, the Spirit corrects our vision so we can see him and ourselves more clearly, and reflect his image more faithfully.

In a culture saturated with shallow or distorted images of Jesus, Unveiled Faces helps us see Christ as he really is. When we look closely, we discover that Jesus—the God who became human—shows us how to be human. We see how to not just admire Jesus from afar but imitate him up close. As we behold his glory with unveiled faces, we are transformed more and more into his image (2 Corinthians 3:18).

What you'll find in Unveiled Faces:

• Deep exploration of ten transformative traits of Jesus such as unashamed poverty, unconditional charity, and unentitled nobility
• A framework for discipleship that is both active and receptive, both participating in Christ's divine life and imitating his human life
• Discussion questions in each chapter perfect for small groups or one-on-one mentorship

If you're ready to ask the hard question, "Am I actually becoming like Jesus?" this book will guide you toward the proximity that creates clarity and the transformation that comes from truly beholding Christ's glory. When we draw near to Jesus, we don’t find a God who meets our personal or cultural expectations. Instead, we discover a God who upended every worldly notion of glory: one who emptied himself to become fully human, and who, in turn, shows us how to be human like him.
