Right Color Wrong Culture

 "I remember working at a church in the nineties that was located in a community that had a growing Latino demographic.  Our church happened to be majority white, and the leadership sincerely wanted to engage our Latino neighbors with the gospel.  So we decided to create a worship service intentionally designed for first generation Latino''s and their families.  Naturally the leadership question came up and after a search we settled on a charismatic leader who seemed to be a great fit.  He was a dynamic preacher with an impressive resume.  The only problem is that this man was Argentinian who liked the finer things in life and the Latinos in our community were almost all Mexican and poor.  In the ensuing months, we were baffled at the disconnect between the people and the leader.  Needless to say it didn''t work and changes had to be made.  Looking back I''m ashamed at how naïve we were. We had the right ethnicity, just the wrong culture and we paid dearly for this oversight."In this fable, Bryan Loritts helps us to identify the right individuals who can help us diversify organizations, churches and businesses in order to adequately meet the needs of our changing world. The core message is centered around the C1, C2, C3 concept which identifies three cultural groups of individuals, and helps readers evaluate what type of leader they need for their organization.
